Autumn Update!

October 13, 2009 by janamashonee

Hi guys!

It’s been a crazy few months here, traveling the US and Europe, touring and finishing up my movie, Raptor Ranch (finally!). I want to say thank you to all of the fans who have been coming to my shows – we’ve had a blast – and I hope to continue meeting new people on my many journeys. I also want to thank everyone for voting for me for the NAMMYs – Yeah, we won “Song of the Year” for my version of the Sam Cooke classic, “A Change is Gonna Come” with Derek Miller! If you haven’t yet seen the performance at the NAMMYs in Niagara Falls, go watch it at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kR1SeUAucPA. It’s a fan shot video but the audio is fantastic! We should have the official footage soon, so stay tuned…

We also had some time to go on the Maid of the Mist boat ride/tour in Niagara Falls – all of us in the band got soaked but it was worth it – a must do if you’re heading to the Falls anytime soon:) I’m also excited about my Best Pop Album win at this year’s “Indian Summer Music Awards” this past September in Milwaukee. Ahhhh – great things have been happening and all the hard work has been paying off with all of your help!

Finally I want to give a shout out to my Canadian friends who have been there for me, and give you some awesome news: On October 13th, my new album, New Moon Born is officially released in Canada – wooo hoooo! PLEASE run (be careful though, safety first) to your local music store and pick up a copy of New Moon Born. This re-released CD has “A Change is Gonna Come” on it and is released by SONY Music! You can also call your local radio station and demand they play the record (ha!) – that would be greatly appreciated, thank you so much! If the stores say they don’t have it yet, then please have them order it – if the radio station says they don’t have it, let us know so we can get it to them! A little goes a very long way. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!

Have a fabulous week and enjoy this amazing autumn weather–amazing up in New York, at least :)

Love,

Jana

July 14, 2009 by janamashonee

it’s been a crazy couple of weeks but i had a fun performance on the fourth of july at firerock navajo casino and this past weekend at the choctaw indian fair.  both shows were amazing and i want to thank all of you who came to the shows! i had a record breaking 300 autographs i signed at firerock and over 100 at the choctaw fair. I met so many people who are just awesome.  i’ve got more shows lined up for those who couldn’t make these shows – I’m trying my best to get to every state again and perform – the only one i’ve not been to is alaska – please, all the fans that live there, bring me up! ha. what i love best about performing is not just the singing but meeting new people from all walks of life – so many stories and characters it’s just cool…well my next stop is Fort Hall Casino in Fort Hall, ID on Aug. 6th.  I hope to see you guys there:)  Until next time…

Rosebud Casino Show!!!

June 24, 2009 by janamashonee

Sorry I haven’t officially written in a while– it’s been crazy busy as I’ve been rehearsing with my new band and we just finished our first gig at the Ho-Chunk Casino in Wisconsin! We had a blast at the show and I think it was very well received. Whew:) The day before the show we took a visit to this cool place called Wisconsin Dells (it’s like the entire town is one huge amusement park) and regressed back to our childhood as we rode every rollercoaster possible! It was fun. It made the trip extra special as I was a bit nervous before our first performance and I needed to chill out ha. My next show is this Friday night (June 26) at the Rosebud Casino near Mission, SD if you can make it! We are going to be doing even more new material for this show than last week’s so please come out to support if you can. Thank you! See you there:)

April 13, 2009 by janamashonee

I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend. No matter what you believe, it is a time of reflection and renewal, just as I wanted to express on my album, New Moon Born. I’ve been working nonstop to get this album off the ground and I want to continue to thank all of you who have been helping me achieve just that. Some things take time and I hope that you will be along for the ride! If there is anyone who hasn’t signed up for my reverbnation, please do by using this link and getting your friends to also….PRETTY PLEASE:) We’ve got our next contest coming up soon that includes winning an IPOD NANO. Our first contest winner won a free autographed poster of moi – her name is DAWN CLARK of Newfoundland and she’s just awesome. If you get a chance, please drop her a quick note to say hi.

From Jana’s personal diary; PLUS: NEW BEHIND THE SCENES VIDEO SHOOT PHOTOS!

January 26, 2009 by janamashonee

After spending a much needed break with my family down South over the holidays, I came back revived and ready to start the new year right! January has been crazy! My amazingly talented friend Derek Miller, a 2008 Juno Award winning artist from Toronto, lent his hands to play guitar on our new track “A Change Is Gonna Come” a great ole Sam Cooke tune. After laying that down we headed up to the studio to film the music video – it turned out really great and you can check it out on my website, youtube, facebook, myspace, et al……! I really wanted to get the song & video ready by the Inauguration, because I felt it was symbolic considering our new president’s message and our hope for the future. My new cd, “New Moon Born” was also available to buy on that day as well. If you haven’t checked it out yet, you can listen to some cuts on my myspace page and I will get some soundbites up on my website very soon. I’m so proud of this album, and I hope you get a chance to listen to it! I’ve also posted a new bio that talks about the new album and my journey making it. I also had the wonderful opportunity to play at the American Indian Inaugural Ball in Washington and I debuted my new material which felt really good to play. The energy there was extraordinary. There were some great artists that performed including Derek Miller, Bill Miller, Joanne Shenandoah, Keith Secola, Casper, Micki Free, and Martha Redbone. Derek and I had a blast performing our song together on stage, along with my insanely talented guitarist Stephan Galfas, and my two amazing dancers, Samsoche and Micco Sampson strutted their stuff as always :) Well, I’m back home now with my pup, Eswa, and we are
looking forward to an amazing year :) Bye for now.
